IGP–KSU Grain Export Supply Chain Expedition

Course Description

This experiential course will provide participants with a first-hand look at the U.S. export supply chain and its components. The course will be delivered on location across the U.S. grain and agricultural commodity supply chain. The expedition will commence in Chicago, Illinois, and conclude at an export location in Portland, Oregon. Domestic accommodation, transportation, and course materials will be provided to participants.

The course will discuss and visit components of the U.S. export supply chain:

  • U.S. Grain and Oilseed Farmers and Producers
  • The Country Elevator and Warehouse, the first point of origin
  • Rail and River Terminal Handling Facilities
  • Mississippi and Illinois River Transportation and Lock and Dams
  • Inter-Modal and Container Loading Facilities
  • Road, Rail, and Barge Transportation
  • Export Facilities
  • Discussion of Ocean Freight and Transportation

Note that this year's course begins in Chicago, Illinois, and ends in Portland, Oregon. Please arrange international travel with the correct arrival and departure cities.

Course fee includes hotel accommodation beginning on the evening of April 21 in Chicago, Illinois, through the morning of Saturday, April 27, in Portland, Oregon; continental breakfast provided by the hotels; transportation from the hotels to and from the points of interest during the expedition; and one group dinner on April 26 in Portland.

Fee does not include air travel to Chicago or from Portland; travel from the airport to the hotel in Chicago upon arrival; travel from the hotel to the airport in Portland for departure; lunches, snacks, and evening meals each day; or any extra travel cost or expenses.

Note that the proposed itinerary and schedule are subject to last-minute changes at the discretion of KSU–IGP.

Who Should Attend

This course is especially useful to individuals in public and private companies, both domestic and international, responsible for sales and marketing agricultural commodities, products, goods, and services.

Course Fee: $5,500

The IGP Institute reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses if minimum enrollment numbers are not met. If a course is canceled, participants will be refunded 100% of their tuition. If a course is rescheduled, participants will have the opportunity to have 100% of their registration fees applied to the rescheduled course or receive a full refund.

Participants who wish to cancel or transfer their registration to another employee can do so for a $100 processing fee as long as notice is received at least fifteen days prior to the course start date. Refund requests made fourteen days or less before a course start date will be not be refunded.
