Bio Brief

Kate Williamson is an experienced event and communications professional with more
than 15 years of expertise in planning, coordinating, and executing events of all sizes around the world. As the Event Coordinator and Communications Specialist for the International Grains Program (IGP) Institute, she leads the planning and delivery of educational courses, on-site programs, and special events that support the Institute’s global outreach and training mission. She also manages event logistics, budgeting, venue coordination, social media content, and student assistant development.
Before joining the IGP Institute, Kate served as the Event & Social Media Coordinator for Kansas State University’s College of Arts and Sciences, where she produced college-wide events, built sponsorship partnerships, and oversaw social media and marketing initiatives. Her experience also includes marketing roles with the Geary County Convention & Visitors Bureau and Seaton Publishing, where she developed multimedia campaigns, redesigned branding, and strengthened community engagement.
Kate’s background spans higher education, tourism, media, and entertainment—including nearly a decade of DJ and emcee work, where she regularly collaborated with event managers to execute successful themed and sold-out events.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from the University of Phoenix and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Mass Communication at Kansas State University. She is actively involved in several university and community committees and boards, contributing to student support, organizational planning, and campus engagement.
In her free time, Kate enjoys scuba diving, traveling, and knitting.
