Bio Brief

Jason Watt joined the Department of Grain Science and Industries at Kansas State University in 2015 as the Buhler instructor of milling.  Watt splits his time between teaching undergraduate classes and teaching short courses at the IGP Institute. Watt is responsible for instructing the undergraduate courses, Milling Science II (GRSC 502/503) and advanced flow sheets (GRSC 580). He also co-teaches Introduction to Grain Science and Industry (GRSC 101) and Milling Science I (GRSC 500/501) and Internship in Grain Science (GRSC 591). Watt is highly involved within the department and is a co-advisor for the Milling Science Club. Watt’s time at the IGP Institute is spent helping instruct both Buhler and KSU short courses. 

Watt brings in seven years of industry experience. Watt worked for ConAgra Foods from 2008-2014 first serving as an associate head miller for one year and then moving on to be a head miller at many locations. In 2014, Watt became the head miller for Ardent Mills at the Colton, California location. Watt is highly involved with the International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM) serving on the Education Committee and helping develop short courses.  He is currently assisting with research in flour safety, micro mitigation, as well as sorghum milling for food consumption.
