Learn About the Majors in the Department
The Department of Grain Sciene and Industry has four majors; Baking Science and Management, Feed and Pet Food Science, Food Science and Industry, and Milling Science and Management. Students in our department receive technical training that prepares them for successful careers working in the bakery, animal food, milling, and bio-based product industries.
We partner with industry professionals to help our students succeed in the classroom and starting their careers by helping students get paid internships as well as high-paying careers after graduation. Our students are in high demand throughout the industry and receive some of the best starting salaries earned by K-State graduates; the average salary across the department is $65,000.
K-State is the only school in the U.S. that offers a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in this major.
K-State is the only institution in the world to offer a four-year degree in Feed and Pet Food Science.
Our undergraduate program is nationally approved by the Institute of Food Technologists.
