Bioprocessing and Renewable Energy Laboratory

The Bioprocessing Laboratory at Kansas State University is an integral part of Department of Grain Science and Industry and located in Bioprocessing and Industrial Value Added Program (BIVAP) building. The laboratory focuses on efficient utilization of the agricultural resources available in the state of Kansas and the conversion of those resources into value-added products. The laboratory is equipped with state of the art fermenters to carry out both aerobic and anaerobic fermentation.

Areas of Research

• Development of bioprocesses for production of biofuels from grain and cellulosic feedstock.

• Evaluation of bioenergy crops for biofuels production.

• Production and characterization of enzymes from solid state fermentation.

• Enzymatic and microbial fermentation for value-added products from renewable resources.

• Development of engineered microbial strains for targeted platform chemicals.
