Bio Brief
Dr. Shivaprasad Doddabematti Prakash is an Assistant Professor and Food Safety Processing Extension Specialist. His research interests include food microbiology, microbial ecology and biofilms, pathogen control and process validation, grain and low-moisture food safety, pet food safety, and non-thermal and emerging food processing technologies. His work focuses on developing and validating practical microbial intervention strategies that can be translated from laboratory research to commercial food-processing environments. His Extension responsibilities include industry technical assistance, workforce training, process validation support, and engagement with departmental food-processing facilities and the Kansas Value Added Foods Lab.
Dr. Shivaprasad earned his Ph.D. in Grain Science from Kansas State University, his Master’s in Food Safety and Quality Management from the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM-K), India, and his Bachelor’s in Dairy Technology from Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, India.
