Grain Quality and Processing

K-State Research with its one of a kind facilities have pioneered research in the area of grain quality and processing. For example, the Grain Quality Evaluation Program (GQEP) has been established to provide a comprehensive grain testing and analytical facility for evaluation of wheat, corn, grain sorghum, soybeans and other grains in whole or processed form. The ultimate goal of which would be to present an unbiased assessment of grain quality and end-use value to all sectors of the grain industry. Currently, there is a collaboration working to collect data on the quality of wheat that's harvested in the Midwest and map and model this data. Then through a web-based service, wheat buyers can see near real-time crop information and make better decisions on where they want to buy wheat based on the different characteristics of each crop.
