Bio Brief

As an Assistant Professor of Feed Technology, Dr. Jones has a 40% research, 35% teaching, 20% outreach, and 5% service appointment in the Department of Grain Science & Industry. Her primary research interests are: 1) ingredient and feed safety, 2) feed processing technologies to improve nutrient absorption, and 3) ingredient stability. She currently teaches Introduction to Grain Science and Industry and Qualities of Feed Ingredients. Dr. Jones is also developing a graduate-level course on feed regulatory compliance, including international trade issues. She will assist with feed manufacturing short courses through the International Grains Program.

Dr. Jones is originally from Beulah, ND where her family raises Rambouillet sheep. She is formally trained as an applied swine nutritionist, and specialized in phytase and specialty ingredient inclusion in swine diets (B.S. in Animal Science & Industry at Kansas State University in 2007, M.S. in swine nutrition at Kansas State University in 2009, and Ph.D. in nutritional sciences at Iowa State University in 2012). She is a member of the American Feed Industry Association, American Meat Science Association, American Society of Animal Science, and National Cattlemen's Beef Association. She and her husband, Spencer, have a toddler son, Ty, and raise Angus cattle near Wamego.
