Grain Science Centennial
On October 1-2, 2010 the Department of Grain Science and Industry celebrated its 100-year Anniversary with many special activities over two activity-packed and fun-filled days!
Our anniversary weekend kicked off on Friday, October 1, with the Centennial Scholarship Golf Tournament. Various teams made up of faculty, alumni, students and industry friends compete against one another in a ful-filled and beautiful day at Colbert Hills Golf Course. All proceeds went to the department's Centennial Celebration Scholarship Fund.
Saturday, October 2, was a day-long celebration with our alumni and friends. The day began with our Open House and guided tours, led by our students, of our facilities including the new Grain Science North Facilities and Shellenberger Hall on the Main Campus.
The afternoon featured our Science and Technology Forum highlighting current research by our faculty and the groundbreaking ceremony for the new O.H. Kruse Feed Mill Biorefinery Teaching and Research Center.
The evening gala theme, Honoring our Past, Envisioning our Future, was a wonderful opportunity to look back at the people who helped to shape our department and look ahead to a bright future for our department.
Finally, in special recognition of their achievements, nine individuals were honored for their contributions to the department and industry. We invite you to please browse and enjoy the images of our memorable weekend!
